Epson Stylus SX405 printer/scanner/copier

The Epson Stylus SX405 is aimed at those on a tight budget that need a device that can print, scan and copy. The Stylus SX405 offers all of this with it small price tag of under £70 and all of its features to a high standard. Running costs for this type of device is usually a sticking point but the SX405 tries to offer value for money in terms of it printer ink cartridges by using four individual cartridges. The advantage of individual ink cartridges is that only the colours that get used have to be replaced and no ink gets wasted. Epson ink cartridges are notoriously expensive and the Epson SX405 ink cartridges are no different, however there are compatible ink cartridges available for half the price of the originals. In terms of it performance the SX405 holds it own against its competitors, printing is probably its strongest feature with its 5760dpi x 1440dpi producing great results on all types of documents including photo prints. The SX405 is a very compact machine and its difficult to understand how it has a fully function A4 scanner built into it, it does this by the scanner being a slim line design and although downsizing usually means a lack of performance this is not the case for the SX405’s scanner. The scanner performs very well on a variety of documents and images producing realistic colour reproduction and with good speed too. The photo copier makes use of the flat bed scanner for copying and it strikes a good balance between produces fast copies and good print quality. The SX405 also has some new features like direct printing from a memory card or digital camera thank to it built in memory card reader and PicBridge connection. All these things added up into making the Epson Stylus SX405 an excellent all round multifunctional printer.
